What ADI does
Materials supply, available now. Coco peat in low, mid and high electrical conductivity grades supplied to a stated specification; trees, palms and plants; imported granite and landscape stone. Delivered across the UAE and the GCC.
Tree transplantation. Assessment, staged root pruning, crown reduction, root ball excavation and wrapping, lift, transport, receiving pit preparation, replanting, bracing and a monitored establishment period.
Miyawaki afforestation. Dense multi-layer native planting, first proven by the founding team as a trial block on an operating international airport campus in India.
Landscape and roof gardens. Terrace landscape engineered around saturated growing medium weight, drainage build-up and root barrier detailing, delivered since 2009.

- What to ask a coco peat supplier before you buy a container — Ask which extraction method the EC is quoted on, whether the batch is washed only or washed and buffered, the compression ratio and expansion yield, the particle size distribution including dust, moisture content at loading, sodium and potassium separately, and whether a lot-referenced certificate and retained sample travel with the consignment.
- Root ball sizing: the numbers, and where the rules of thumb break — The 10 to 12 times calibre rule assumes a symmetric root system in cohesive soil on an unrestricted open-grown tree. Sandy soil needs a wider ball to hold together, clay holds but weighs more, and asymmetric roots mean the ball is centred on the roots rather than on the trunk.
- Green roofs and Dubai Green Building Regulations: what actually counts — Vegetated roof area does two regulatory jobs. It counts toward the indigenous and adaptive species planting requirement, and sufficient vegetated roof coverage can be used in place of meeting the solar reflectance index requirement on the roof surface. Confirm the current thresholds with the relevant authority for the specific plot before designing to them.
- Will the Miyawaki method actually work in the UAE? — It can work, with conditions. The method needs a genuinely native arid species list, densities lower than the tropical three to five plants per square metre, deep soil preparation with salinity management, and a secured non-potable water supply for two to three years with a defined weaning date. Without those four, it produces an expensive planted bed.
- Coco peat EC grades explained: which grade for which job — EC grade describes the soluble salt load in coco peat. Low EC, below roughly 0.5 mS/cm on a 1:1.5 extract, suits propagation and hydroponics. Mid EC of roughly 0.5 to 1.0 suits nursery and container growing. High EC above 1.0 suits open-ground conditioning where leaching is free.
- How to transplant a mature tree in the Gulf and have it live — A mature tree survives transplantation when the root ball is sized to trunk calibre, roots are pruned in stages over three to six months, the lift happens between November and March, and the receiving pit drains freely below the ball. Prepared that way, survival above 95 per cent is achievable and should be verified at 12 and 24 months.
